The Legal Division is established with the objective of achieving the vision of the Department of Agrarian Development in order to drive the farming community of Sri Lankan for a sustainable development era by obtaining optimum productivity from the agricultural lands in Sri Lanka.

The officers and junior officers in the Legal Division are as follows.

Services

• Provide necessary information to the Ministry for formulation of the Agrarian Law and the provisions of the relevant Act for implementation of the Agricultural Policy of Sri Lanka and render assistance in that regard.
• Provide legal guidance for settling agricultural disputes between tenant farmers and landlords.
• Protection of Cultivation Rights.
• Providing legal protection for rural irrigation works and implementation of cultivation regulations.
• Provide Legal counseling for departmental officers, farmers and institutions.
• Engaging in judicial work for empowerment of Agrarian Law.
