From 2014, the Operations and Evaluation Division was formally established in the Agrarian Services Department. The main function of this division is to manage the resource management, design and implementation of all development programs and other agricultural programs pertaining to agricultural development activities implemented by the Department of Agrarian Services.

  • Preparation and communication of departmental data and information (resource profile)
    • Collect statistical data related to the department.
    • Preparation of data.

  • To summon and coordinate all Progress Review Meetings and Staff Officers Meetings
    • Calling, conducting meetings, preparing meeting reports and reporting to relevant parties.

Additional Services

  • Preparing the annual action plan and submitting it to the Ministry for approval.
  • Preparation of duty list of the division and distribution of subjects of the department.
  • Preparation of all progress reports and to report to Ministries and related institutions relating to issues with regard to Development Programs / Special Projects / Foreign Aid Projects
  • Prepare and dispatch reports relating to periodically requested information from the Ministry of Agriculture and other major ministries, departments and other institutions.
  • Implement the ONUR project.
  • Staff meeting and preparation of reports.
  • Organizing and conducting monthly progress review meetings of Deputy / Assistant Commissioners.
  • Prepare and update resource profile data information document.
  • Provide answers to audit queries and information required for audit.
  • Preparation and updating of departmental telephone directory.

  • Performing other functions assigned by the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development.

The Agrarian Development and Marketing Division has a special role to play in achieving the vision of the Agrarian Development Department in the "Sustainable Development of Sri Lankan Agrarian Society and All Agricultural Lands", for which the Agrarian Development Act No. 46 of 2000 is amended by the Agrarian Development (Amendment) Act No. 46 of 2011. This section deals with the implementation of sections 28, 30 (3), 32 (1), 33 (1) and 34 (1) of the Act.

An Internal Audit Division is in operation in this Department in terms of Financial Regulations 133,134 and subsections 38(c) and 40(1) of the National Audit Act No. 19 of 2018 and it has been established in such manner so as to be directly responsible for the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development.

Department of Agrarian Development, district offices, agrarian committees, agrarian banking (pilot) projects, farmers’ organizations, special investigations assigned by the Commissioner General of Agrarian Development and the Agrarian Development Fund come under the purview of the Internal Audit Division.

Services

Conducting internal audit activities deploying the available staff at maximum efficiency in accordance with monthly audit programmes incorporated in the annual audit plan covering the above subject scope upon the approval granted by the Commissioner General.
